We are a research group at the interface of theoretical condensed matter physics and computational materials science. We investigate hidden electronic phases in quantum materials that can be induced through nonlinear vibrational excitations of the atoms in a solid, also called nonlinear phononics.
ERC Starting Grant received

We are delighted to announce that one of the prestigious ERC Starting Grants of 2024 is going to the JuraschekLab. The project, CHIRALPHONONICS, sets out to unravel how vibrational and electronic angular momenta are coupled in solids. Press release
Lab on the move
The JuraschekLab will partially move to TU Eindhoven as of October 1st, 2024. Updates can be found on the website in the coming weeks.

Forming a new community of Chiral Phonons

Chiral Phonons @ DPG Spring Meeting 2024
For the first time, the spring meeting of the Germany Physical Society (DPG) has hosted a focus session on emergent magnetic phenomena from chiral phonons, including invited and contributed talks.

Chiral Phonons @ APS March Meeting 2024
This year's APS March Meeting has hosted two invited sessions on chiral phonons, focusing on their coupling to magnetic systems and general phenomena in quantum materials.

Chiral Phonons online workshop 2023
Following the great success of the CECAM workshop in Lugano, the International workshop on chiral phonons, hosted virtually, reached a broad audience across time zones.

Chiral Phonons @ CECAM Lugano 2023
The first workshop on Chiral Phonons in Quantum Materials hosted at CECAM Lugano in Switzerland, has been a big success. We brought together experts from different communities working on chiral phonons and built the foundation for a diverse and international community.
